High Frequency Words are
words that appear often in text. Students should know how to read these words
by sight. The attachment below is a list of first grade high frequency
words.
Grading
The sight word quiz will
count toward your child's reading grade.
Students will have a weekly
quiz on Sight Words and Spelling Words. Weekly quizzes are on Friday. The Sight
Word quiz is administered through a quick one-on-one oral reading exercise. The
Spelling quiz is a traditional teacher call-student write assessment. Students
have a monthly list of Spelling and Sight words. These lists will be in
homework folders and posted online.
